Easy No Sew Burlap Pillow "how to"......

Hi guys,
I can't believe summer's almost over, school starts again next tuesday!!!
If any of you are looking for a quickie craft fix before school starts, here's a little something you might like.

Over the 4th of July I made a super easy pillow that required no sewing.  Since then, I've had several friends ask me how to make one.
It's really as easy as 1, 2, 3...

1.  Go to your local feed store and fork up half a dollar for a "lumbar size" burlap feed sac.

2.  Stuff it with pillow stuffing.

3.  Cut 3 holes for ribbon to go through on the open side, push ribbon through the holes tying ends into a bows.

If you're feeling a little "wordy" you can get some fabric paint and stamp or paint on some words, or numbers or whatever, as I did below.  I think your house address would be cool too!
*** Make sure you do this part before you fill it with stuffing.

Enjoy your last days of summer...I know I will!!!!!

Together at last

Here's the table and bench pair I painted, together.

I used Benjamin Moore paint in Navajo White. Thanks to a suggestion from Lori @ Frugal Farmhouse Design.
I love how it brightens the space.

Next, you ask???  I'm not sure, but I'll be sure to post it, whatever it is!

I just finished organizing my craft area.  Stay tuned... :)

Now, off to Lacrosse carpool!
Happy Tuesday!

Sew.... what do you think?

I love this antique stool my mom gave me, mostly because it's from her though.  She gave me it along with a roll top desk when I got engaged.  I treasure both.  That being said, it was time to ditch the butterfly embroidery on the seat (for now anyway).
Sorry mom.

Before

It took me most of the day but I managed to knock out a little slip cover for the stool.  It's really a beginner job but it freshens it up:)

After
Thanks for taking a look!

Painting project 101

I'm constantly being teased by my husband, friends, and family that our house is "always changing". My response, "I like to keep things fresh".

I usually do a big switchieroo when my husband's out of town for a few days.
Guess what? He's in Vegas and I'm itching to get started on my next project.

I mentioned in my last post that I'm going to paint my dining table white, I hope in time for the holidays.
Can anyone recommend blogs or help that may get me started with the painting wood process? Thanks for taking the time to read my blog and for sharing any comments you may have!

looking for light in all the wrong places

I've been on the lookout for a new light fixture for above my dining table for a long time. I'd see one in a magazine and it would be out of the budget or I would look for a custom shade that would be perfect for my casual space and something about it was "just a little off". Finally I bit the bullet and decided to make my own. I found an old lamp shade frame, some burlap, a cheep home depot hanging light and a few hours sewing and pasting and "Taa Daa". This is the outcome. Pretty easy, cheep, and just what I was looking for!
