Have a seat.........

Funny how furniture can remind you of an era or of someone special.

After my grandmother died I was offered her old chairs.  I probably wouldn't have bought them off the show room floor but they were hers, and that's why they still sit in my family room today.  I remember sitting in them, chatting with her about life experiences, munching on Bugles & diet coke and hoping for one of her pearls of wisdom to take away with me.

After years, I finally decided to bid fair well to the original bee crest print,  I sent the cushions off to one of my favorite stores in Seattle, Red Ticking.  Pam, the owner and a dear friend, understood my attachment to them and she helped me pick out the perfect fabric.  They turned out beautiful!   I heart you Pam!

Thought you might like to see the the transformation of my new beauties!

I'd love to hear about your family treasures......

Happy Monday!

Hello again....

First off, sorry I've been so MIA lately.  Hopefully once you see what  I've been up to you'll find it in your hearts to forgive me;)

I've been looking forward to a weekend away with my surfer friends for awhile now.  The last time I went surfing with them was four years at a weeklong surf retreat in Oregon.  It was an amazing experience, I think it's fair to say that I left a different person than I came.

The original "gang"

It's really incredible what women can bring out in one another when we are true to ourselves.  When we leave the "tudes" behind and we accept one another for who we are.

Anyway, several weeks ago we had a reunion.  There were a few of us from the first camp but there were some fresh faces too.  I had the most fun I've had in, well, years.....

Hope everybody's summer's going great!

Hood Canal on the 4th of July....

The "Canal" as the locals call it.
My mom and I call it Washington's "Rivera".

Whatever you call it,
there's no place on earth I'd rather be on the 4th of July!

I love it here!

It's where I get to spend time with family and it's where I feed my soul.

I've spent nearly every 4th of July here since I was a child.

The best part now is my kids are making memories here too.

Hope you and your loved ones all had a wonderful and safe 4th!
